    What is sangria?

Sangria is an alcoholic beverage that originated in Spain and Portugal.

Sangria consists of a combination of fruit, wine, sprite, and liquor.

The basis of traditional sangria is red wine; however, we can vary the bases in many other sangria recipes, like we did on this one.

In Portugal, where we live, sangria is one of our most popular drinks and is part of almost every menu in restaurants and bars.

    Ice: To serve it cold.

White wine: Use a good quality white wine that you usually enjoy drinking that will have a massive role in the final taste of your sangria.

    Bubbles: To top up.

Melon liquor: A good quality one.

How to make melon grape sangria

    Shape your fruit and freeze:

The first step you need to take is making melon balls and freezing them, as well as the grapes. They should be frozen when your start making your sangria recipe. They will act as ice cubs with flavor.

To make melon balls, cut the melon in half, and with a melon baller scoop, press down as far as you can at an angle, then twist, and scoop it out. Repeat this process on both melon halves.

Next, freeze the melon balls and grapes in a freezable bag.

To assemble your sangria, add the frozen melon and grapes to a large pitcher, followed by the melon liquor and melon syrup, and mix with a spoon to combine everything.

Next, add the white wine, sprite, and mix carefully.

Top up with bubbles, and add extra ice cubes if you want.

Finally, add the basil mint on top, and mix with a large drink spoon. Enjoy!

    Tips for making this recipe

Always taste before serving: As with any other drinking recipe, depending on the sweetness of the fruit you have, or the syrup you buy, the sweetness can vary. We suggest that you taste it first, and if you think that it is not sweet enough, you can add a little bit more syrup or liquor.

Make ahead: Assemble your sangria a couple of hours before serving, keep it in the fridge, and only add the ice cubs when it's time to serve.

Serve: Pour your sangria into glasses with the help of a large sangria spoon to prevent too much ice and chopped fruit into each glass.
