Melon Grape Sangria with Basil and Mint

AuthorRicardo
This melon grape sangria is the best sangria recipe for the summer months! It uses seasonal fruit, like melon and grapes, and fresh herbs, like mint and basil. This will be one of the best you'll ever taste!
Prep Time2 hours
Servings1 large jug

Ingredients

  • 1 small melon shape into balls, and freeze
  • bunch of grapes
  • 2 oz melon syrup 60 ml
  • 2 oz melon liquor 60 ml
  • 25 oz sprite 750 ml
  • 25 oz white wine 750 ml
  • bubbles to top up
  • 1 handful of fresh basil
  • 1 handful of fresh mint
  • extra ice cubs for serving

Instructions

  1. The first step you need to take is making melon balls and freezing them, as well as the grapes. They should be frozen when you start making your sangria recipe. They will act as ice cubs with flavor.
  2. To make melon balls, cut the melon in half, and with a melon baller scoop, press down as far as you can at an angle, then twist, and scoop it out. Repeat this process on both melon halves.
  3. Next, freeze the melon balls and grapes in a freezable bag.
  4. To assemble your sangria, add the frozen melon and grapes to a large pitcher, followed by the melon liquor and melon syrup, and mix with a spoon to combine everything.
  5. Next, add the white wine, sprite, and mix carefully.
  6. Top up with bubbles, and add extra ice cubes if you want.
  7. Finally, add the basil mint on top, and mix with a large drink spoon.

Notes

Always taste before serving: As with any other drinking recipe, depending on the sweetness of the fruit you have, or the syrup you buy, the sweetness can vary. We suggest that you taste it first, and if you think that it is not sweet enough, you can add a little bit more syrup or liquor.
Make ahead: Assemble your sangria a couple of hours before serving, keep it in the fridge, and only add the ice cubs when it's time to serve.
Serve: Pour your sangria into glasses with the help of a large sangria spoon to prevent too much ice and chopped fruit into each glass.
